You deserve a space where your authentic self is welcome and celebrated. Water Lily Counseling invites you with open arms into an affirming, judgment-free therapy space. No more having to explain yourself, identities, or lived experiences in session.
You are welcome as you are, whether you are carrying something directly related to your identity or simply part of the fuller picture of your life.
Maybe you’ve sat across from a therapist who meant well but didn’t quite get it. You spent the hour in session educating them, softening your story, or wondering whether you were being judged. Or maybe you’re navigating more than one world at once: your culture, your family, your faith or community, and your identity, each with its own expectations. You shouldn’t have to leave parts of yourself at the door to get support.
We are here to help you explore any and all emotions that can come with this journey and speak freely about sexuality and gender, and how that may intersect with different cultural experiences.
There’s no timeline and no “right” way to understand yourself. Whether you’re questioning, newly out, or have known who you are for years, only you can set the pace.
You don't need to be navigating a stressor related to your identity or have to be central to what you want to talk about weekly. Many folks just want a therapist who gets it and stop having to explain their identity or lived experience in session.
Unpacking family dynamics that may feel complicated, strained, unsupportive, challenging, or just different. For many people of color, family is a source of both deep love and real tension. Water Lily Counseling recognizes the importance of holding space for both realities, without being asked to choose between your family and yourself.
Whether it's figuring out how to explore dating and intimacy in general, wanting a kink and sex positive space, or navigating diverse relationships, such as polyamory or ethical nonmonogamy.
Water Lily Counseling strives to provide a safe space for clients navigating any form of discrimination, rejection, stress, or trauma based on their identities. This includes the cumulative toll of racism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of marginalization, which can build over time and show up in your mood, your body, and your relationships.
These do not have to be related to your identity to be discussed in therapy. Please see our service pages for more information.

Many LGBTQIA+ people, especially those who are also BIPOC, describe a feeling of being in the middle of being "too much" or "not enough". You may feel too queer for some spaces and too culturally rooted for others. You may have learned to code-switch, stay quiet, or hide parts of your life to stay safe, keep the peace, or protect your family’s feelings.
That kind of constant self-monitoring is exhausting. It can leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure of who you are when no one is watching. In therapy, you don’t have to monitor yourself. You can say things out loud, including things you’ve never said before, and be met with understanding instead of surprise.
Our work together starts from a place of respect for who you are, without assumptions about your experiences, relationships, or what "should" matter to you. Depending on what you are working through, it may look like:

Hi, I'm Sabiha. I work with queer adults looking for a therapist who just gets it.
Many folks have had the experience of explaining their identities to therapists and still feeling misunderstood, judged, or put in a box. I help clients navigate anxiety, trauma, shame, and more, whether related to their identity or not, in a space that is compassionate and understanding. My work is grounded in cultural humility, and I’m committed to learning from you about your own experience rather than assuming.
You deserve care that welcomes the authentic you.
